Biography

MAGNETIC SPACE BUBBLE (Sophie Gentle Capshaw-Mack) is a neurodivergent artist who investigates the ontology of consciousness through ecological and feminist motifs. Her creative work often incorporates sustainable materials and has received support from Columbia University, Creative Pinellas, Duke University, New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), North Carolina Arts Council, United States Artists, the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC), among others.

Through her art, she aspires to cultivate greater levels of compassion and open-mindedness, both in others and herself. She has exhibited her multidisciplinary work around the world with current exhibitions at the Design Museum of Chicago and in the permanent collection of the Chen Zekun Long River International Art Museum in Hubei, China. Her advocacy and creative pursuits have been featured in several publications, including The Guardian, The Associated Press, the Journal of Applied Philosophy, and Baidu (百度).

She holds a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University, where she was an Environmental Fellow at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) on a full-tuition merit-based scholarship. At UNC, she graduated in the top 1% of her class and was awarded the Burch Fellowship and the Parr Center for Ethics Fellowship. She currently lives and works in Seminole, Florida, with her partner and two rescue dogs, Biscuit and Gravy.
